Charge: |
Assist
the Systems Planning Committee in selection of a new integrated library
system by assessing the circulation, ILL, report writing, and statistics
keeping functionality of vendors systems. Once a system is selected, recommend
ongoing enhancements in functionality.
Disseminate information to the membership on how to more effectively utilize
circulation, interlibrary loan, report writing and statistical features.
A variety of methods should be employed including discussion forums, workshops,
listservs, etc.
Identify and recommend to the Board strategies for improving resource sharing
particularly in the area of interlibrary lending between WALDO institutions.
Serve as a forum for exchanging information and views regarding access services.

Charge:
|
Collaborate
with Collection Development and Information Services Committees in identifying
databases suitable for consortial purchase. Establish priorities for acquisition.
Organize product trials and demonstrations. Survey
member libraries to determine interest in particular databases and obtain
commitments to participate once pricing is known.
Negotiate
or assist agent identified by the Executive Board in negotiating with
database vendors and publishers to secure best price and terms. Review
all licensing agreements.
Monitor
vendor performance.
Monitor
list of vendors and publishers who have signed state contracts with New
York State Office of General Services.

means of improving information literacy and instruction programs regarding
electronic resources.
In collaboration with the Database Committees, identify and evaluate databases
of interest to consortium members placing particular emphasis on the public
interface and search engines. Recommend to the Database Committee candidates
for consortial purchase.

system by assessing the OPAC modules of potential vendors. Once the system
is selected, recommend ongoing enhancements in functionality.
Disseminate information to the membership on how to more effectively utilize
OPAC and reference database features. A variety of methods should be employed

Keep abreast of ever-evolving
information workflows and support products for
print and electronic resources within
technical services including acquisitions,
cataloging, collection development,
preservation and serials.
Remain current with trends and
issues in the continuously changing and
fast-paced environment of information
technologies including frequent releases of
ILS clients and bibliographic utilities and
the incorporation of metadata schemes. Develop
strategies for handling their labor-intensive
and time-consuming procedures and managing
their increasingly higher costs.
Serve
as a forum for exchanging information and
views regarding technical services in order to
provide timely, accurate access services in a
globally connected world. Disseminate
information and share ideas using multiple
communication methods such as discussion
forums, workshops, working groups, listservs,
etc.
Identify and recommend to the Executive Board
consortial initiatives to improve quality and
cost-effectiveness of technical services
operations and to leverage a more competitive
standard of the necessary functionalities.
Recommend ongoing enhancements in
functionality for the different integrated
library systems used among WALDO libraries.
